Maxwell Mediators is founded by Lim Tat, Bill Wood and Geoff Sharp to meet the growing demand in Singapore for seasoned specialist mediators with international experience.
With our three experienced mediators, each independently ranked as a leading mediator in their home jurisdiction and drawn from Asia, Europe and Australasia, Maxwell Mediators is perfectly placed to resolve cross border disputes in South East Asia and beyond.
We specialise in co-mediating complex multi-jurisdictional/cross-border disputes, often involving more than one language. Lim Tat and Geoff Sharp recently co-mediated a crossborder dispute between English and Mandarin speakers.
“The combination of Geoff and Tat’s superb mediation skills and Tat’s Chinese language skills ultimately resulted in a satisfactory settlement which allowed the [English/Chinese speaking] parties to put a long running and costly dispute behind them and move forward as commercial partners” Chris Griggs, Barrister
Maxwell Mediators has a broad range of proven current experience across diverse areas of conflict, typically with ICC, SIAC or other institutional/ad hoc arbitrations on foot.
Since launching in June 2019 we have mediated, over the balance of 2019, large cross border disputes concerning oil & gas, mining, aviation, steel and more.
Our mediators work in the UK, NZ, USA, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, UAE and other countries involving a range of subject matter:
- contract and negligence
- construction and infrastructure

- financial services and banking
- joint venture
- shareholders disputes

Maxwell Mediators provides a refreshingly lean process for complex disputes. There is no secretariat nor any administration fees. Geoff, Bill and Tat are hands-on throughout the process.
Singapore – the ideal mediation venue
Singapore is a leading dispute resolution hub in Asia and a popular seat of choice for international arbitration. It has further enhanced its mediation credentials by enacting the Mediation Act 2017 to support the international commercial mediation sector. Add that to the high levels of cross border investment in Asia giving rise to costly and complex disputes, and it makes perfect sense to offset risk by mediating at a strategic point in the arbitration or litigation process.
These factors, together with Singapore taking a lead role with the launch of the UN Singapore Convention on Mediation in August 2019 make Singapore an ideal mediation venue.
Our Singapore office is located in the heart of the business district at Maxwell Chambers Suites adjoining Maxwell Chambers, Singapore’s preferred mediation venue. This provides a convenient and secure venue for parties, counsel and mediators.
Members of Maxwell Mediators are independent professionals who operate entirely separately from one another and they take all necessary steps to ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
